Community Development Department!
The Community Development Department provides for orderly growth, development and redevelopment of the City through the application and implementation of the General Plan, Zoning, and building codes.
Our development teams include multiple divisions including Planning, Building, Code Compliance, and Housing Services, enabling the City of Imperial Beach to provide best in class service guaranteeing fast and effective permit processing times. We look forward to assisting you!
CITY HALL OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED DURING THE WINTER HOLIDAY

Imperial Beach City offices will be closed during the winter holiday starting Monday, December 25, 2023. City offices will reopen Tuesday, January 2, 2024. City services will not be available during this period except for Public Safety, Fire, and designated Public Works Department services.
During the holiday closure, licensed contractors can make emergency repairs on commercial or residential water, gas, or electrical components and/or systems as long as a permit is obtained on January 2, 2024. In an emergency situation, please call the Building Inspection Request Line at (619) 628-1360 and indicate the address, type of repair being performed and contact information. Only a licensed contractor can perform emergency repairs on building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing components or systems.
Designated Public Works stand-by crews are available for sewer, public facility and street services. During the holiday break, the public is directed to call the Sheriff’s 24 - Hour line at (858) 565-5200.
During the holiday closure, you can pay online by going to www.imperialbeachca.gov. The Finance Department also has a deposit drop-off box at the southeastern, rear entrance to the Civic Center parking lot. Payments dropped off during this period will be certified when normal hours resume on January 2, 2024.
