About the Project
The City of Imperial Beach is developing a forward-looking improvement plan for the 13th Street Commercial Corridor, which stretches from the northernmost point of the city to the Naval Outlying Landing Field (NOLF). This initiative aims to reimagine the corridor as a more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly, and connected part of the community.
Supported by a $335,000 Housing Acceleration Program (HAP) Grant, the plan will explore strategies to encourage infill housing development, improve access to public transit, promote fair housing, and reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT). The plan will identify policies and design concepts that can guide future improvements such as pedestrian safety upgrades, multi-modal street designs, and potential redevelopment opportunities.
By creating a thoughtful and inclusive vision for the 13th Street Corridor, the City seeks to lay the foundation for long-term revitalization that enhances quality of life, increases housing options, and supports economic growth.
