The City has adopted new stormwater treatment standards for development and redevelopment projects. All development projects in the City (regardless of type and size) are required to implement source control best management practices (BMP) and low-impact development BMPs, where feasible, to remove pollutants from stormwater runoff before leaving the development site. Larger development projects in the City that meet the threshold as a Priority Development Project are required to meet engineering design standards to remove pollutants and control the discharge velocity of stormwater before leaving the development site. These updated requirements are provided in the Imperial Beach BMP Design Manual. (BMPDM)
As required by the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit, the City of Imperial Beach and other Copermittees collaboratively prepared a Model BMPDM to incorporate the updated requirements of the MS4 Permit. The Model BMPDM was updated in May 2018.
